 Payroll Tax Express
The State Revenue Office (SRO) has introduced a range of internet-based applications called ‘Payroll Tax Express’ (PTX Express).
‘PTX Express’ is designed to simplify the way employers conduct their payroll tax business.
Available applications include :
- User Access - the secure gateway that enables employers to control access levels and securely manage passwords for multiple users.
- Lodge a Monthly Return - allows electronic lodgement and online payment of monthly payroll tax liabilities.
- Electronic Annual Reconciliation (e-AR) – allows for online submission of the end of year reconciliation.
- Update Your Records - provides the facility to check and update payroll tax records as held by the SRO.
- Register for Payroll Tax – allows you to register for payroll tax online.

User Access
User Access is the secure gateway that enables employers to control access to ‘PTX Express’ via the SRO website.
User Access allows:
- employers to control and manage access to the suite of ‘PTX Express’ online applications;
- secure management of passwords;
- a combination of access levels providing flexibility for business; and
- access to all PTX Express applications, including the e-AR.
A designated Administrator within your organisation is able to log-on to e-Access and then set up user identifications and passwords for your staff to access various functional aspects of the ‘PTX Express’ suite of applications.
Lodge a Monthly Return
The ‘PTX Express’ online system allows customers to lodge monthly returns online. Monthly customers are able to securely access their payroll tax records online and:
- determine the month for which they wish to make payment;
- calculate their Victorian payroll tax liability;
- access up-to-date online assistance for completion of a monthly return;
- view and select from a range of payment options;
- make secure, online Victorian payroll tax payments;
- receive immediate confirmation that a return has been submitted and that payment (if made online) has been processed; and
- view their payment history.
Electronic Annual Reconciliation (e-AR)
The ‘PTX Express’ online system provides employers with the facility to complete their payroll tax Annual Reconciliation via the SRO website and to make payment online.

Update Your Records
The ‘PTX Express’ online system allows employers to check and update their payroll tax details as held by the SRO. The details include address (postal, trading and electronic), contact details etc.
