The State Revenue Office has updated the terms and conditions for using Duties Online.

The Duties Online Terms and Conditions of Use document is now available, replacing the terms and conditions previously titled Notice of Approval of a Special Tax Return Arrangement.

The review and update is the first in two years and is timely given the many developments in the conveyancing industry including legislative change, a heightened exposure for property purchases to potential cybersecurity issues, and a major evolution to e-conveyancing as the main channel for property settlements.

In addition to simplifying the structure and language in the new Duties Online Terms and Conditions of use, we have:

  • Strengthened the responsibilities of registered users (whether an individual or organisation) to ensure appropriate use of their Duties Online system account by all users.
  • Strengthened responsibilities related to ensuring all system users are at all times ‘fit and proper persons’ to access and use Duties Online.
  • Ensured clear accountability around user names and password sharing to reinforce the importance of your responsibility for maintaining system security.

As our Duties Online Terms and Conditions of Use are legally binding to all system users, we recommend you review this revised document.
