Levy proposed for commercial passenger vehicle trips
Published on 23 February 2017
The Commercial Passenger Vehicle Industry Bill 2017, introduced into Parliament this week, proposes to implement the first stage of the State Government’s reforms to establish a single commercial passenger vehicle industry (i.e. taxi, hire cars and ride share services).
As part of the reforms, it is proposed that a $2 levy will apply to all commercial passenger vehicle trips from 2018, with the SRO having primary responsibility for administering the levy.
More information will follow once the Bill passes the Parliament.
