The Victorian Budget 2022-23 includes an announcement related to the State Revenue Office.

As part of this budget, the Victorian Government has announced it will introduce a motor vehicle duty exemption for eligible wheelchair accessible commercial passenger vehicles that provide unbooked services.

The exemption will apply to vehicles registered on or after 1 July 2022. The exemption will apply to commercial passenger vehicles less than two years old that:

  • are specially converted for wheelchair access and are capable of carrying at least one occupied wheelchair
  • are registered (or will be registered within 3 months) with Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria, and
  • meet the requirements to provide unbooked commercial passenger vehicle services, such as being fitted with a fare calculation device.
