Updated advice on 2021 concessions for private car park owners affected by the COVID-19 Restricted Activity Directions
Published on 26 July 2023
We have recently updated our advice on the application of the congestion levy concession for private car park owners for the 2021 levy year.
Private car park owners may be eligible for a part-year concession for the 2021 levy year for parking spaces that:
- were in private car parks, and
- were not capable of being used as parking spaces for more than 30 days during the period 6 August 2020 - 26 October 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 Restricted Activity Directions.
To request the concession and a levy refund, you must lodge an objection to your 2021 levy assessment. A new online objection form is available for this purpose.
You will be asked to provide the following information:
- the number of leviable parking spaces;
- the period for which you are claiming the part-year concession; and
- evidence that your private car park did not operate during the claimed period because of the Restricted Activity Directions that were in force from 6 August 2020 until 26 October 2020.
Eligibility for this concession does not apply to parking spaces in public car parks.
