If you are lodging a payroll tax return and paying via PTX Express, you can pay by:

If you have received a payroll tax assessment notice, you can pay by BPAY or credit card.

Paying via PTX Express

One-off direct debit – pay online

This is a quick and easy way to complete your monthly returns that: 

  • gives you full control of exactly when you want payments to occur
  • enables you to set up dual authorisation, so that if you are working with a payroll tax service provider (e.g. an accountant or other professional service), you can manage approval of your payments together
  • provides a complete record of payment transactions on PTX Express.

You can have your payroll tax liability deducted from your cheque or savings account by selecting the ‘Pay online’ button on the ‘Payment’ screen of PTX Express and following the prompts.

You need to provide your:

  • account name
  • BSB
  • account number.

This is not a recurring direct debit. You will need to authorise future payments.

Credit card

To pay by credit card via our website, you need:

  • a current Visa or Mastercard
  • your State Revenue Office customer number and liability reference number, which is displayed on the ‘Payment’ screen during the PTX Express lodgement process, and can be printed for your reference.

A card payment fee of 0.45% applies to all credit card transactions.

BPAY

Make payment of up to $15 million directly from your cheque, savings, debit or transaction account using your financial institution’s internet or telephone service.

To pay by BPAY you need your:

  • biller code
  • BPAY reference number.

These are displayed on the ‘Payment’ screen during the PTX Express lodgement process and can be printed for your reference.

Electronic funds transfer (EFT)

Transfer your payment directly from your cheque or savings account using EFT.

Our bank account details and a reference number are displayed under the heading ‘EFT’ on the ‘Payments’ screen during the PTX Express lodgement process. Please use these details to make your payment.

The EFT reference number changes for each payroll tax return.

Paying an assessment notice

BPAY

Make payment of up to $15 million directly from your cheque, savings debit or transaction account using your financial institution’s internet or telephone service.

To pay by BPAY, you need your:

  • biller code
  • BPAY reference number.

Both numbers appear on your assessment notice.

Credit card

To pay by credit card via our website, you need:

  • a current Visa or Mastercard
  • your State Revenue Office customer number and liability reference number, both of which are on your assessment notice.

A card processing fee of 0.45% applies to all credit card transactions.

Payment arrangements

If you want to pay an overdue assessment, you can arrange a payment plan of up to 12 months by completing an online application.
