The Victorian Government has announced a temporary pause on livestock duty, effective from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026. September 2025 returns must still be lodged and paid by 21 October 2025. This pause applies to duty on cattle, sheep, goats and pigs and includes both the requirement to lodge returns and pay duty to the State Revenue Office during this period.

What is the purpose of this form?
This form can be used to lodge returns for, and pay for, livestock duty or insurance duty.
Who can complete this duty return?
You must be registered with the State Revenue Office and have a valid customer number to complete this form.
- For the purposes of livestock duty, this form must be completed by the owner of the livestock or a livestock agent.
- For the purposes of insurance duty, this form must be completed by the insurer or an agent of the insurer.
When are duty returns and payments due?
Duty returns and payments are due by the 21st of each month. You must lodge a return even if there is no duty payable for that month.
