Pay in full

You can pay your land tax assessment in one full payment by the due date on your notice. Paying by the due date avoids interest charges.

Payment options:

  • BPAY: Use your bank’s app or website. Enter the biller code and reference number from your notice. Payments may take up to 3 days to clear.
  • Credit card: Pay online using Visa or Mastercard. A card payment fee of 0.45% applies.
  • In person: If listed on your notice, you can pay at a Westpac branch or Australia Post outlet.

You can also log in to My Land Tax to view and pay your assessments. When you click the ‘Pay’ button, it takes you to the credit card payment page.

Pay in instalments

If you can’t pay in full by the due date, you can set up a payment plan using AutoPay. If you set up a payment plan before the due date you will not be charged interest, even though payments are processed after the due date.

Instalments can be spread over up to 38 weeks from the date your assessment was issued. You can choose to pay:

  • fortnightly
  • monthly
  • in 4 equal instalments.

Payment plans must be set up annually as your tax liability can change each year.

Overdue payments

If you have not paid by the due date, your land tax becomes overdue and you may be charged interest. It is important to act quickly and understand your options for paying overdue land tax assessments.

If assessments remain unpaid, we may take recovery action to collect the debt.

Hardship relief

If paying your land tax will cause you to suffer serious hardship, you can apply for hardship relief. To learn more or apply, visit hardship relief for land tax.

Pay land tax shown as outstanding on a clearance certificate

If a property clearance certificate (previously called a land tax clearance certificate) shows an amount of land tax owing, you can pay in 2 ways.

  • Credit card: pay online using Visa or Mastercard. Select ‘Land Tax’ from the Revenue Line drop-down menu. A card payment fee of 0.45% applies.
  • BPAY: use your bank’s app or website. Enter the biller code and reference number from your notice. Payments may take up to 3 days to clear.
