The number that scammers are asking people to contact them on is 02 8015 5831.
While these scam calls may appear to be from the State Revenue Office, it is important to remember that a legitimate caller from the State Revenue Office will never:
- Threaten you if you do not return their calls.
- Demand immediate payment, particularly through unusual methods such as crypto currency or gift cards.
- Refuse to allow you to speak with a trusted advisor or your regular tax agent.
Never call a scammer back on the number they provide.
If you are in any doubt about a State Revenue Office call, hang up and phone us on 13 21 61 during business hours to check if the call was legitimate or report the scam to the Australian Government’s ScamWatch, where you will also find more information about scams.
