In some situations, you may need to provide us with a statutory declaration.

What is a statutory declaration?

A statutory declaration is a written statement you sign in front of an authorised witness.

By signing it, you agree that the information in it is true and correct. You can be charged with a criminal offence if the information is false.

How can I make a statutory declaration?

The Department of Justice and Community Safety provides information about statutory declarations. They advise:

  • how to make a statutory declaration
  • who can witness your statutory declaration.

They also provide a statutory declaration form you can download and complete.
