Make a GAIC payment

Contact us first, then pay your GAIC liability by EFT.

Background information

If you have deferred your GAIC liability or you have a staged payment arrangement, interest may apply. Interest is calculated daily. You can check your staged payment arrangement, including interest, with our GAIC staged payment interest calculator.

Step 1: Contact us before you pay

You must email gaic@sro.vic.gov.au before you pay so we can calculate the amount, including interest.

Include these details in your email:

  • The address and title references.
  • Details of the owner.
  • Any notice of staged payment approval, or the GAIC certificate.
  • The date you intend to pay the liability.

Step 2: Pay your GAIC

You can pay by electronic funds transfer (EFT):

  • BSB: 033 222
  • Account: 170 444
  • Account name: State Revenue Office

Add your name and 'GAIC' as a payment reference so we can match your payment to the liability.

Staged payments

You can pay your staged payment and interest using the EFT details above.

Include the notice number, located on the top right corner of the GAIC notice of approval of staged payment arrangement. The format is SPA XX/XXXX(X).

Step 3: Confirm your EFT payment

After making your EFT payment, you must email us these details so we can track it:

  • Your name.
  • Details of the GAIC affected property, including the:
    • name of the owner
    • address and title references
    • copy of the proposed plan of subdivision.
  • EFT payment confirmation number.
  • Date of payment.
  • Amount paid.
  • Copy of your notice of staged payment approval, if applicable.

Next steps

If your payment pays the GAIC liability in full, please email us to request a certificate of release and a notice to remove the GAIC recording on the land.

If your payment is for an approved stage, please email us to request a certificate of partial release and a notice.

Attach a copy of any associated plan of subdivision, staged payment arrangement or other relevant documents.

The certificate confirms that a GAIC liability has been paid for a stage, including any interest. The notice enables the registration of a staged subdivision of land and the removal of a GAIC recording for that stage only.

If you do not pay by the due date, penalties will apply.
