About the State Revenue Office
The Victorian Government’s principal revenue collection agency.
The State Revenue Office administers Victoria’s taxation legislation. We collect revenue to fund schools, hospitals, police, roads, public transport and other government services and priorities.
We also manage a range of grants, waivers, exemptions and concessions. This includes support to help people buy their own homes, such as the First Home Owner Grant.
We administer a range of taxes, levies and grants, including:
- land tax
- land transfer duty
- payroll tax
- short stay levy
- vacant residential land tax
- emergency services and volunteers fund
- unclaimed money.
Our purpose is to provide customers with quality revenue management services which are fair, efficient and deliver benefits for all Victorians.
We provide information, education and support to help customers understand and meet their obligations, and take action against deliberate non-compliance.
We support the Victorian Government’s revenue management functions as a division of the Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance.
