Apply for the water and sewerage rebate

Steps to complete the form and submit it to your water authority.

Background information

Eligible organisations get a rebate on a property's fixed service charge for water and sewerage. Water authorities assess applications and manage the rebate.

They assess applications on the eligibility of your organisation and the predominant use of the property.

Step 1: Gather supporting documents

For first-time applicants, include the following with your application:

  • A copy of the memorandum and articles of association (constitution) or the rules of association.
  • A current statement of the organisation's activities and objectives.
  • Any other documents that explain your organisation's activities and objectives, such as brochures or annual reports.

Step 2: Complete application form

Complete the application online. Download the completed form and sign it.

Step 3: Submit application to the water authority

Send your signed application form to your water authority. Their contact details are listed on your bill.

Send your application before the end of the financial year when the service charges were billed.

Next steps

If your organisation is approved, the rebate applies each year as long as you stay eligible. You do not need to reapply each year.

You must notify your water authority in writing if the property ownership or use changes. This may affect your eligibility.
