Apply for a GAIC certificate

Background information

The growth areas infrastructure contribution (GAIC) is a contribution on certain land in the growth areas of metropolitan Melbourne. 

A GAIC certificate states if your land has a GAIC liability. It may contain:

• amount of GAIC due and unpaid
• amount of deferred GAIC, including interest
• amount of GAIC subject to a staged payment arrangement
• potential amount of GAIC if a proposed GAIC event occurred.

We only issue certificates for land in the contribution area.

Step 1: Prepare your information

You need the following information for the online application:

• Your contact details, including residential address, mailing address, phone number, email address and website (if applicable).
• Details of the land, including address, lot number, plan number and municipality.
• Confirmation of whether you own the land in full or in part.
• If a GAIC event has or will occur, the type and date of the GAIC event.

Step 2: Complete and submit your application

Enter all the required information in the form. 

Confirm the information is true and correct by providing:

• the name of the signatory
• their position and organisation
• a signature date stamp, which appears automatically when you select the field.

You can save your form and finish it later.

We use the information in your application to update our records and may share it with other government agencies where we are authorised to do so.

Step 3: Download and save the receipt

After you submit your application, you will see a receipt page.

Please record your receipt number (beginning with 'GAIC-Form-01') and quote it if you contact us about your application.

Download and save a copy of your submission for your records.

Next steps

We will send the certificate to the email address you provide in your application. The certificate will only show GAIC information available at the time we issue it.

If your land is not subject to GAIC, you may receive a letter (rather than a certificate) confirming no GAIC applies.
