Lodge and pay landholder duty

Steps to lodge your acquisition statement with supporting documents and pay duty.

Background information

You must lodge a landholder acquisition statement and pay duty within 30 days of a relevant acquisition in a landholder. Penalty tax and interest may apply if you miss this deadline.

Step 1: Gather supporting documents

Before lodging, make sure you have the required supporting documents. These commonly include the share or unit sale agreement, valuation reports and financial statements. Refer to the form for the full list of supporting documents.

Step 2: Complete the statement

This form must be completed and lodged online.

You can attach documents up to a total limit of 20MB. If this isn’t enough, you can send additional documents by email to landholder@sro.vic.gov.au. When submitting documents by email, reference your matter and include the tracking code of your online submission.

Step 3: Pay your duty

You can pay by electronic funds transfer from your cheque or savings account.
