Use this form to lodge an objection to a motor vehicle duty reassessment.
Before you start, review the process for objecting to motor vehicle duty.
An objection is a formal challenge to the legal basis of our decision.
You must lodge your objection within 60 days of receiving the notice of reassessment.
You can save the form and return to it later by using your tracking code and answering the security question.
We accept submissions from the person who received the assessment or their authorised representative.
You can only object to a reassessment if the reassessment has increased your tax liability.
Get these details ready
You will need:
- a contract of sale if sold by a dealer, auctioneer or leasing company
- evidence of cosmetic or panel damage, i.e. dated photographs
- a certificate of roadworthiness with the odometer reading
- invoices, quotes or receipts for repairs or work completed after purchase
- an insurance policy with the agreed value
- documentation that the vehicle was a write-off, i.e. Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) search
- supporting documents for an exemption, if applicable.
